Session 1 – Alternative Literacy (May 8)
Explore how our communities practice literacy in non-traditional ways. Then begin your first print, centered on a cultural memory or item that sparked your love of stories.
Session 2 – Belonging (May 13)
Read and discuss poems by BIPOC poets on the theme of belonging, then continue developing your first print.
Session 3 – Ancestral Storytelling (May 20)
Reflect on how our ancestors shared and preserved knowledge. Start a second print using 2–4 symbols to tell a visual story.
Session 4 – Image Systems (May 22)
Explore how images enhance comprehension and storytelling. Finish your second print.
Session 5 – Braided Narratives (May 29)
Challenge linear, colonial storytelling traditions by crafting layered narratives. Work in small groups to collaboratively create a third print.
Session 6 – Storysharing (June 3)
Invite loved ones for a gallery walk of your work, then share your writing and reflections during a final reading and celebration.
